Pasraman Aditya Dharma Nurtures Spiritual Values and Character Through Sanskrit, Sloka, and Yoga Classes

The efforts to foster spiritual values and build the character of young Hindus continue through various religious education initiatives. The latest program was conducted by Hindu Religious Counselor Luh Wayan Ratmaya of Central Lampung Regency, who provided lessons in Sanskrit, sloka recitation, and yoga to Hindu students at Pasraman Aditya Dharma in Rama Gunawan Village, Seputih Raman District, Central Lampung Regency, on Sunday (7 June 2026).

The activity, held in an enthusiastic and engaging atmosphere, was attended by pasraman students from various age groups. The lessons focused on introducing Sanskrit, teaching the recitation of slokas suitable for children, and conducting yoga practices tailored to the participants’ ages and abilities.

During the session, Luh Wayan Ratmaya explained that Sanskrit holds a significant place in Hindu teachings, as it is the language widely used in sacred scriptures, mantras, and slokas. For this reason, introducing Sanskrit at an early age is considered important in helping children gain a deeper understanding of Hindu teachings.

“Through learning Sanskrit and slokas, children do not merely memorize words and verses; they also become acquainted with the noble values embedded in Hindu teachings. This serves as an important foundation for shaping their character and personality,” she said.

The students not only learned basic Sanskrit vocabulary and practiced simple sloka recitations but also took part in a children’s yoga session. The yoga activities consisted of simple movements designed to improve concentration, balance, physical health, and mental calmness.

According to Ratmaya, yoga is an effective tool for character development because it teaches discipline, self-control, and focus in daily life. Through regular practice, children are expected to grow into individuals who are healthy both physically and mentally.

“Slokas teach moral and spiritual values, while yoga helps maintain physical health and inner peace. Together, they play an important role in shaping a generation of Hindus who are intelligent, healthy, and of noble character,” she added.

The students’ enthusiasm was evident throughout the activity. They actively participated in sloka recitation, learned Sanskrit vocabulary, and practiced yoga movements with great excitement. The interactive learning environment made the lessons easier for the children to understand and enjoy.

Through this Hindu religious education program, students of Pasraman Aditya Dharma are expected to develop a deeper appreciation for Hindu teachings, strengthen their religious understanding, and apply spiritual values, discipline, and healthy living practices in their daily lives. Initiatives such as this also form part of broader efforts to nurture a generation of Hindus who are principled, culturally grounded, and well-prepared to face future challenges while remaining firmly rooted in the values of dharma.
