The Hindu community joined all elements of the nation in reaffirming the importance of unity and harmony during the National Prayer that opened the series commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia at Monas, Jakarta, on Saturday (August 1, 2026). The Hindu prayer was led by Pinandita Gede Pastika, Chairperson of the Pinandita Sanggraha Nusantara (PSN), representing the Hindu community.
Before leading the prayer, Pinandita Gede Pastika invited Hindu devotees to focus their minds and hearts by assuming the Amusti Karana posture, a gesture of reverence to Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa, before offering prayers for the nation and the state.
“We will now offer the National Prayer according to the Hindu tradition. To all members of the Sedharma community, let us assume the Amusti Karana posture. Om Swastiastu,” Pinandita Gede Pastika said.
During the prayer, the Hindu community sought divine blessings for Indonesia, praying for enduring peace, safety, and national unity. Prayers were also offered for the nation's leaders, asking that they be granted good health, wisdom, and steadfastness in carrying out their responsibilities to build a just, prosperous, and harmonious society.
“Bestow safety and good health upon our leaders. Guide and strengthen them in carrying out their duties and responsibilities, and grant all Indonesians the strength to work together for the glory of our Motherland,” Pinandita Gede Pastika prayed.
The prayer also emphasized the importance of preserving brotherhood amid Indonesia’s rich diversity. The Hindu community prayed that the nation would be protected from division, jealousy, hatred, and greed, while continually being guided to walk the path of dharma as the moral foundation of national life.
Pinandita Gede Pastika further prayed that the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045 would be realized through a nation of strong character, committed to upholding truth and preserving unity as its greatest strength in facing future challenges.
“Grant our leaders and all Indonesians strong and resilient character, so that they may always uphold the truth and remain steadfast on the path of dharma. May Indonesia become a nation of dignity, justice, and prosperity on its journey toward Indonesia Emas 2045,” he said.
The participation of the Hindu community in the National Prayer formed part of the interfaith prayer ceremony that inaugurated the commemoration of Indonesia’s 81st Independence Anniversary. The occasion reflected the nation's enduring spirit of unity in diversity while reaffirming that religious values and national solidarity remain essential foundations for keeping Indonesia’s unity and advancing the country toward a more prosperous, harmonious, and progressive future.
