Entering a new school marks a pivotal moment in shaping students' moral foundation. Recognizing the importance of character education from an early stage, Hindu Religious Counselors from the Ministry of Religious Affairs Office of Gianyar Regency visited SMP Negeri 4 Tegallalang to introduce 132 new students to the noble values of Tri Kaya Parisudha and Catur Paramita during the school's Student Orientation Program (MPLS) on Monday (July 13, 2026).
The counseling team, consisting of Ida Ayu Kade Ratna Wati, Ni Wayan Ekayanti, I Kadek Cihna Harta, and I Putu Agus Adegrantika, encouraged students to understand that exemplary character begins with self-discipline. Through the teachings of Tri Kaya Parisudha, students learned that every virtuous action originates from pure thoughts (Manacika), respectful speech (Wacika), and righteous deeds (Kayika).
These principles were further reinforced through the philosophy of Catur Paramita, which serves as a moral compass for fostering harmonious relationships with others. By cultivating empathy, compassion, and mutual respect, students are expected to contribute to a school environment that is harmonious, inclusive, and free from bullying.
"Through this session, we hope students will develop not only intellectual excellence but also strong social awareness. Tri Kaya Parisudha and Catur Paramita provide the essential moral foundation for young people to think positively, respect others, and care for all living beings around them," said one of the Hindu Religious Counselors.
Principal of SMP Negeri 4 Tegallalang, Ngakan Putu Suwendra, welcomed the participation of the Gianyar Ministry of Religious Affairs counseling team in the school's orientation program. He emphasized that character development is an indispensable pillar of quality education.
"Character building is an essential component of education. We hope these religious values will serve as a lifelong guide for our students, helping them grow into individuals of noble character throughout their educational journey," he said.
The session was conducted in an interactive atmosphere and received an enthusiastic response from the participants. By implementing these noble values from the very first day of school, SMP Negeri 4 Tegallalang is optimistic about nurturing a generation that is not only academically accomplished but also grounded in strong moral integrity, providing a solid foundation for their future lives.
