Galungan Inspires Hindus to Turn Spiritual Values into Daily Action

REGIONAL NEWS

The sacred celebration of Galungan serves as an important reminder for Hindus not only to commemorate the victory of Dharma ceremonially, but also to embody the values of truth and righteousness in daily life. This message was emphasized during a religious counseling session held alongside the piodalan ceremony at Pura Kawitan Arya Wang Bang Sidemen, Restu Baru Village, Rumbia District, on Thursday.

The counseling session was delivered by Hindu Religious Counselor I Gusti Ngurah Adi Narendra Yoga from Central Lampung Regency and attended by Hindu devotees participating in the piodalan. The activity formed part of ongoing religious guidance aimed at deepening the community’s understanding of the significance of Galungan, which will soon be celebrated by Hindus.

In his preach, Ngurah Adi Narendra Yoga explained that Galungan carries profound philosophical meaning, symbolizing the victory of Dharma (truth and righteousness) over Adharma (falsehood and unrighteousness). He explained that this victory should not be understood merely as a religious symbol, but must be reflected through a way of life grounded in dharmic values.

“Galungan is a spiritual moment to strengthen śraddhā and bhakti toward Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa. The victory of Dharma must be reflected in daily conduct through self-control, honesty, discipline, and a consistent commitment to practicing religious teachings,” he said.

He further noted that the increasing complexity of modern life requires Hindus to possess a strong spiritual foundation. The spirit of Galungan, he said, can serve as a guiding principle in facing life’s challenges without abandoning the religious values passed down by ancestors.

Moreover, in the discussion the meaning of Galungan, participants were encouraged to understand the importance of maintaining balance in relationships between humans and God, fellow human beings, and the environment, as taught in the concept of Tri Hita Karana. Harmony among these three dimensions is considered essential for creating a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable life.

“The values of Galungan will bring real benefits when applied within families, workplaces, and society. Dharma must be lived through action, not merely understood as a concept or theory,” he added.

Participants showed strong enthusiasm throughout the session. Several attendees took the opportunity to engage in discussions and deepen their understanding of Galungan and its relevance in contemporary life.

The messages conveyed during the counseling session served as a reminder that the true meaning of Galungan lies in one’s ability to uphold the victory of Dharma in thought, speech, and action. In this way, the spirit of Galungan extends beyond religious celebration and continues to guide everyday life.
