The quality of education is not solely measured by academic achievement; it must also cultivate individuals who possess strong character, integrity, and a firm foundation in the values of dharma. This message was prominently conveyed during the graduation ceremony of Pratama Widyalaya Eka Dharma Sastra in Bandar Lampung City on Tuesday.
The graduation was held in a solemn yet joyful atmosphere, was attended by Jumadi, Head of the Hindu Community Guidance Division at the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Lampung Province, along with foundation administrators, school committee members, teachers, parents, community leaders, and other invited guests.
The graduation ceremony marked an important milestone for students who had completed their studies at the Pratama Widyalaya level and were preparing to continue their educational journey to higher levels. It also served as an opportunity to recognize the dedication and hard work of students, teachers, and parents who had contributed to the educational process.
In his remarks, Jumadi expressed appreciation to educators and parents for their commitment to nurturing and guiding the students throughout their formative years. He emphasized that educational success is the result of collaboration among schools, families, and communities in shaping the character of future generations.
“Graduation is not the end of the learning journey; it is the beginning of a new chapter in pursuing one’s dreams. Be a generation that is intelligent, principled, and equipped with a positive attitude,” he said.
He noted that future challenges require young people to master not only in science and technology but also in morality, ethics, and adaptability. Therefore, character education must remain an integral part of the learning process.
Jumadi explained that elementary education represents a critical stage in building a child’s character and personality. Values such as discipline, responsibility, honesty, perseverance, and respect for teachers and parents must be instilled from an early age to prepare students for an increasingly dynamic world.
“Today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders. Therefore, they must be equipped not only with knowledge but also with strong character, sound ethics, and the ability to uphold moral values throughout their lives,” he stated.
He also encouraged students to maintain their enthusiasm for learning, broaden their horizons, and use religious teachings as guidance in their thoughts, words, and actions. He emphasized that intelligence combined with noble character forms the strongest foundation for lasting success.
The graduation celebration was further enlivened by a variety of artistic and cultural performances presented by the students. These performances showcased their creativity, talents, and the learning experiences they had gained during their time at Pratama Widyalaya Eka Dharma Sastra.
Today is more than a graduation ceremony, it is a reflection of a shared achievement in preparing young people who are not only ready to continue their education but are also grounded in strong character, appreciation for culture, and a commitment to practicing the values of dharma in their daily lives.
With these foundations in place, the graduates are expected to grow into individuals who make meaningful contributions to their families, communities, and the nation while becoming future leaders guided by integrity, compassion, and responsibility.
