Universitas Hindu Negeri I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa Denpasar reaffirmed its commitment to building excellent, moderate, and sustainable Hindu higher education through the celebration of its 6th Dies Natalis held at the Bangli Campus on Monday.. The milestone carried the theme, “Satya Dharma Widya: Membangun SDM Unggul, Moderat dan Berkelanjutan untuk Indonesia Emas 2045”
The celebration was attended by the Director General of Hindu Community Guidance of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, university leaders, lecturers, education personnel, students, and the entire academic community of Universitas Hindu Negeri I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa Denpasar. The series of activities included an open senate session, the launching of the Integrity Zone and Green Campus initiatives, scientific orations, the presentation of the Sugriwa Award, and joint prayers.
Rector of Universitas Hindu Negeri I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa Denpasar, I Gusti Ngurah Sudiana, stated that the 6th Dies Natalis served as a moment of evaluation and strategic reinforcement amid the evolving dynamics of higher education.
He explained that the development of academic quality, institutional governance, research strengthening, and character building rooted in Hindu values remain the university’s primary focus in responding to global challenges and the digital era.
“Hindu higher education institutions must become centers for the development of knowledge while remaining firmly grounded in dharma, culture, and religious moderation. Therefore, we continue to encourage educational transformation through academic strengthening, research, digitalization, and collaboration,” he stated.
He emphasized that this year’s Dies Natalis theme reflects the university’s commitment to producing human resources who are not only intellectually excellent, but also possess integrity, spirituality, and social awareness.
Meanwhile, Director General of Hindu Community Guidance, I Nengah Duija, stated that Dies Natalis is not merely a ceremonial celebration of the university’s anniversary, but also an important moment for reflection and sharpening the future direction of Hindu higher education in Indonesia.
“This momentum is not simply about commemorating the university’s age, but also a significant point for all of us to reflect on our journey, appreciate our achievements, and refine the future direction of our beloved university,” he remarked.
Prof. Duija explained that higher education institutions are currently facing major transformations that require universities to strengthen their competitiveness at the international level through quality improvement, global networking, transparent governance, and curriculum development based on spiritual values and religious moderation.
He also highlighted the importance of enhancing research quality and international scientific publications, strengthening community service programs, expanding global collaboration, and developing Kurikulum Berbasis Cinta as the foundation of character education in Hindu higher education institutions.
“We dream and work toward making Universitas Hindu Negeri I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa a center of excellence for Hindu higher education, not only in Indonesia but also across Southeast Asia,” he said.
Regarding to the academic and spiritual development, the digitalization of educational governance also became an important focus through the optimization of the SISTER application system to support transparency and accelerate lecturers’ career development.
The 6th Dies Natalis momentum reflected the university’s ongoing transformation into a Hindu higher education institution that remains adaptive to contemporary developments while staying firmly rooted in the values of dharma and the cultural heritage of the archipelago.
The commemoration also marked the continued commitment of Hindu higher education institutions to progress alongside modern developments without losing their spiritual and cultural foundations. Through this spirit, the university hopes to produce future generations who are intellectually capable, morally grounded, socially aware, and globally competitive.
