The Hindu community of Shri Mariamman Temple Helvetia in Deli Serdang Regency held a communal worship service combined with a Dharma Wacana (religious discourse) in preparation and welcoming for the upcoming Aadi Tiruvila 2026 celebration on Tuesday . The event was attended by temple management, religious and community leaders, Hindu youth, and devotees from surrounding areas as part of a collective effort to prepare spiritually for one of the most significant religious observances in the Tamil Hindu tradition.
Representing the Hindu Community Guidance Division of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of North Sumatra Province, Dr. Matha Riswan, M.Psi., attended the event on behalf of the Head of Hindu Community Guidance. He delivered the Dharma Wacana and provided spiritual guidance to the congregation as they prepared for the upcoming series of Aadi Tiruvila observances.
In his welcoming remarks, Chairperson of Shri Mariamman Temple Helvetia, Pinandita K. Dharma Rajen, expressed appreciation for the continued support and guidance provided by the Hindu Community Guidance Division of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in North Sumatra.
“We sincerely thank the Head of Hindu Community Guidance of North Sumatra for the continuous support and guidance extended to our community. The presence of representatives from the Ministry inspires us to preserve the spirit of togetherness, safeguard our religious traditions, and prepare for Aadi Tiruvila with the utmost dedication. We hope this year's celebration will be conducted smoothly, solemnly, and bring blessings to the entire Hindu community,” he said.
Dr. Matha Riswan in his Dharma Wacana emphasized that Aadi Tiruvila is far more than an annual cultural celebration of the Tamil Hindu community. Rather, it is a sacred spiritual occasion that strengthens devotees' relationship with God while fostering unity, solidarity, and social harmony within the community.
He explained that the success of the celebration should not be measured by the scale of the festivities alone, but by the extent to which it enhances the community's spiritual quality, strengthens the spirit of mutual cooperation, and encourages the practice of dharma in everyday life.
“Aadi Tiruvila is a sacred opportunity to deepen sraddha (faith) and bhakti (devotion) to Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa. Through this celebration, Hindus are encouraged to strengthen their spirituality, preserve unity, reinforce the bonds of brotherhood, and safeguard the cultural heritage passed down by our ancestors. The spirit of togetherness cultivated through religious activities such as this serves as an essential foundation for building a harmonious, resilient, and empowered Hindu community,” he explained.
Dr. Matha Riswan also conveyed a message from the Head of Hindu Community Guidance of North Sumatra, encouraging Hindu places of worship to serve not only as venues for religious ceremonies but also as centers for community development, religious education, cultural preservation, and character building for the younger generation.
The worship service and Dharma Wacana concluded in an atmosphere of reverence and fellowship. The dialogue and interaction among devotees, temple administrators, and representatives of the Hindu Community Guidance Division strengthened communication and reinforced collaborative efforts to foster Hindu religious life in Deli Serdang.
Through this gathering, the Hindu community hopes that the peak celebration of Aadi Tiruvila 2026 at Shri Mariamman Temple Helvetia will be conducted in a safe, orderly, and spiritually meaningful manner, while further strengthening community unity and promoting a harmonious and moderate religious life.
