Deep Meaning On Kuningan Holy Day To Hindus

Jakarta (BIMAS HINDU) – Directorate General Hindu Affairs Ministry of Religious Affairs of Indonesia emphasizes all Hindus across Indonesia to celebrate Kuningan Holy Day with purity, sincerity, and the spirit of dharma. Kuningan Holy Day marks the culmination of the Galungan Holi Day celebrations, which are observed every 210 days according to the Balinese (Wuku) calendar, specifically on Saniscara Kliwon Wuku Kuningan.

Kuningan Holy Day is an essential moment to strengthen spiritual devotion, deepen connections with ancestors, and reaffirm one’s commitment to practicing the teachings of dharma in daily life.

This holy celebration is not merely a tradition but also a sacred opportunity to reflect on the values of dharma, and to foster harmony with nature, with fellow human beings, and with the Creator within the framework of Tri Hita Karana.

The Hindus community expected to carry out worship and ritual ceremonies in an orderly manner, while maintaining environmental cleanliness and upholding Hindu cultural and spiritual values.

During Kuningan Holy Day, Hindus usually present offerings (banten and upakara) at family shrines (sanggah), temples (pura), and other sacred places. Traditional ornaments such as tamyang and endongan decorate homes, symbolizing protection and prosperity granted by Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa.
