The Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar has invited the public, particularly residents of the Greater Jakarta area, to attend the National Zikir and Prayer at Monas Square in Jakarta on Saturday, August 1, 2026. One of the event's main highlights will be the National Shalawat led by Habib Syech bin Abdul Qodir Assegaf.
“Let us welcome Indonesia’s Independence Celebration by joining the National Zikir and Prayer with Habib Syech bin Abdul Qodir Assegaf and leaders from various religious communities at Monas Square, Jakarta, on Saturday, August 1, 2026,” the Minister said on Wednesday (July 29, 2026).
The event is open to the public and will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (Western Indonesia Time/WIB) as part of the nation’s commemoration of Indonesia’s Independence Month.
“Join us and invite your family, friends, and loved ones to participate in this meaningful occasion,” the Minister added.
Participants may begin entering the venue from 3:00 p.m. through the security gates located on the northern and southern sides of Monas. Those who are unable to enter the main event area will still be able to follow the entire program through large LED screens installed around the venue.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Kamaruddin Amin said the National Zikir and Prayer will feature a choir performance, a complete recitation (khataman) of the Qur’an, Maghrib prayer, a hadrah performance, the National Shalawat led by Habib Syech bin Abdul Qodir Assegaf, a Qur’anic recitation by Muhammad Zian Fahrezi, and an interfaith prayer for a Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia.
“To ensure the comfort of all participants, hundreds of portable toilets and ablution facilities equipped with approximately 1,000 to 1,500 water taps will be available throughout the venue,” Kamaruddin said.
Participants are encouraged to wear white attire, bring practical prayer equipment, and limit the amount of personal belongings they carry. They are also advised not to bring infants or toddlers to the event. Sharp objects, firearms, fireworks, and other hazardous items are strictly prohibited within the venue.
The interfaith prayer will be led by religious leaders representing Islam, Protestantism, Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Confucianism.
“Prayer is a spiritual strength that accompanies every effort undertaken by our nation. Through this National Zikir and Interfaith Prayer, we seek the blessings and guidance of Almighty God therefore Indonesia may develop toward its aspirations as a Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous nation,” Kamaruddin said.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs hopes that the National Zikir and Prayer will serve as a unifying moment for all Indonesians as they welcome Independence Month. The event is also expected to strengthen interfaith harmony and reinforce the spirit of mutual cooperation in building a Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia.
